A man who claims to be a gospel
singer, Elijah John, was among three other suspects arrested by the
Homicide Section of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence
Department (FCIID), Alagbon, Lagos State, for allegedly kidnapping and killing the son of a Customs Officer.
The other suspects are Ibrahim Maina and Jude Okafor.
According
to reports, the victim whose name was given as Enere Ukonga, was
reportedly abducted by the trio at his residence, No. 10, Ajanaku
Street, off Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja.
Investigations
made by police detectives reveals that Ukonga's father, Ajayi, was
contracted by one Osarentin Enabulele, to help him clear some goods at
one of the seaports in the country.
Enabulele
allegedly gave the Custom's Officer the sum of N1 million to execute the
clearing, but the job could not be done because Enabulele did not have a
bill of laden to facilitate the clearing job, something he saw as a
failure on the part of the Custom's man.
To exact vengeance, he masterminded the kidnap of the younger Ukonga and the bioy was killed and buried in a shallow grave.
The victim's father narrated the incident:
“I
was surprised that one day he came to demand for his N1 million, that I
should not continue the clearing. I told him that I have already used
it for his job.
To my surprise, Enabulele and four others came and kidnapped my son, killed him and buried his body at Abesan Estate, Ipaja, where we later exhumed his body for re-burial.
We
are carrying out a DNA test on his body to be sure he is the person in
question, while the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the
DNA result is out.”
